Singing

My sister is a mezzo soprano opera singer and I really admire her dedication to music. I also love to sing but I did not put the time and effort necessary to develop my singing therefore I didn’t change my major from piano to singing. However, I enjoy performing with her as an accompanist, now we both enjoy performing together.

Speaking English is like singing. You have to use face and mouth muscles to manipulate upper and lower mandibles up and straight down without tension. Inhale deeply expanding your diaphragm, then exhaling to produce a clear voice to speak similarly to when you sing, as you exhale to produce your voice through your nose as well to register a more cleaner pitch which resonance.

This like many other things is easy to say but it is difficult to do for most people without years of practice.

Recently I’ve been trying to play the piano while singing English songs so that I can maintain my English pronunciation and dexterity fingers. It is fun to continue to learn English and Music with this holistic approach.

If you are really interested in speaking English fluently, I recommend you to practice singing English songs ウインク
